Rules & Scoring

MMA Snake

In snake draft contests, participants will draft a lineup via a live snake draft. After the draft, trades or other roster management activity will not be allowed. Contest results will be determined by the total points accumulated by each individual lineup entry (scoring rules summarized below).

Participation in each contest must be made only as specified in the Terms of Use. Failure to comply with these Terms of Use will result in disqualification and, if applicable, prize forfeiture.

Scoring Notes

  • Significant Strikes are any Distance Strike or Clinch/Ground Strikes that are considered "Power Strikes" by official scorers.
  • A Significant Strike will count as both a strike and a significant strike and will be worth a total of 0.4 Pts
  • Control Time is the time spent in the dominant position on the ground or in the clinch. +0.03 points are awarded per second.
  • A Knockdown is awarded to a fighter who knocks his/her opponent down due to debilitation for what the official scorers consider an appreciable amount of time.
  • A Quick Win Bonus is awarded to the winning fighter if they win in the first round in 60 seconds or less.

Lineup Requirements

Lineups will consist of 4 Fighters.

The 4 roster positions are:

3

F

1

Bench

Your highest scoring players are automatically your starting lineup. Your non-starting players will make up your bench and their fantasy points will not count toward your team's overall fantasy point total.

Position Eligibility

Fighter eligibility determinations and decisions around fighter inclusion into the player pool are at the sole discretion of DraftKings.

Player Pool

The Player Pool will consist of all MMA fighters expected to be on the fight card for the upcoming event. Occasionally a fighter may be missing from the Player Pool due to late injury or other unforeseen circumstances.

In most circumstances, once the Player Pool is established for a Game Set, the Player Pool will not be adjusted*. In the rare event that there is a mistake within the Player Pool that would significantly impact game quality, DraftKings reserves the right to correct the mistake after contests for that Game Set have become available. This may result in valid lineups becoming invalid. This would most likely occur shortly after the Player Pool becomes available, far in advance of the contest start time, and participants who have entered contests for the Game Set prior to the adjustment will be notified via email.

A "Game Set" is a set of games used for contests; each contest is tied to one Game Set. Contests tied to the same Game Set can be created at different times. Therefore, game policies are based on the timing of a Game Set being made available, not each individual contest.

*In cases where a fighter withdraws or a fight is canceled, replacement fighters may be added to the player pool up to 24 hours before the event start time. Withdrawn fighters will be labeled as out ("O") and will receive zero points for the scoring period. All changes to the Player Pool will be communicated to entrants via email.

Draft Start Time

Snake drafts will begin once the required number of entrants enter the contest (snake draft contests must fill completely). There will be a two minute countdown period between the time the contest fills and the time the countdown begins for the first pick of the draft. The draft order is determined at random once the contest fills. You can withdraw from a snake draft at any time before the contest fills.

Pick Clock

Snake drafts will have fast draft settings. You will have up to 30 seconds to make each pick. Fast drafts typically take a few minutes to a few hours to complete.

Draft Requirements

In order to be eligible for prizes in snake draft contests you must either edit the pre-draft rankings, add a player to your queue during the draft, or make a manual draft pick during the draft. Failure to take at least one of the prior three actions will result in an invalid entry and you will not be eligible for prizes and your entry fee will be forfeited.

Pre-Draft Rankings

You can create your own personalized ordering of a snake draft player pool by editing the pre-draft rankings. Your last saved version of the pre-draft rankings are automatically imported for you as soon as a draft starts. You can edit your pre-draft rankings at any time and it will apply to every draft in the game set. If you edit and save your pre-draft rankings while in the middle of an ongoing draft, your new rankings will pass through to all ongoing drafts in the game set. If you do not edit the pre-draft rankings before a draft starts, you will use the default DraftKings player rankings.

Auto-Draft

If you do not make a pick before your pick clock expires, we will draft a player for you based on the following logic:

  1. We will pick the highest player from your queue
  2. We will pick the highest ranked player from your pre-draft rankings

On certain occasions, DraftKings will at their own discretion "disable" players who are no longer eligible to score fantasy points. Those players can still be manually drafted, but they will not be auto-drafted from a user's pre-draft rankings or their queue.

Canceled, Postponed and Rescheduled Events

In the event that an event is cancelled, all player entries will be cancelled and refunded. If an event is postponed or delayed for a reasonable amount of time, as determined by DraftKings in its sole discretion, the contests may remain live until which time the tournament is completed. After final tournament results become available, the contests will be finalized and settled.

Collusion

DraftKings has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to collusion. If DraftKings suspects there was collusion in a contest, the contest may be cancelled. The users suspected of collusion will not be refunded and may be permanently banned from DraftKings.

Collusion is any action or decision that is made between two or more users in a draft with the intention of gaining an unfair advantage over other users, or otherwise, in DraftKings sole discretion, may compromise the integrity of the contest.
